Individuals who represent their firm's membership interests in industry associations are typically experts in a particular technology or business segment. They are typically not experienced in the affairs of industry associations. Even for those who are association-experienced, their schedules generally do not permit a great deal of time to move matters through their associations efficiently. L&M understands these realities and is experienced in both formal and informal activities to help association members develop the consensus necessary to achieve their goals. Facilitation services generally appear in the following forms: Board Development: L&M works with governing boards to support their primary responsibilities as a "governing body". L&M does this by being responsible for management and working with directors to develop position responsibility statements for the board of directors and by assisting in periodic self-assessments of board performance. Board and Committee Support: L&M works with governing boards and working committees to provide information and to recommend structures for meeting their goals. Members can count on L&M to recommend solutions that are consistent with their own bylaws and general parliamentary procedures. Voting Procedures and Processes: L&M will conduct and certify formal election and voting results that are consistent with the association's own bylaws.
